Liver: acute liver injury, hepatitis, increased liver enzymes, liver failure, jaundice.

Urinary system: urinary retention, dysuria, polyuria, nocturia, slow urine flow, change in urine odor.

Reproductive system: menstrual disorders, erectile dysfunction, delayed ejaculation, uterine bleeding, Galactorrhea, symptoms of menopause, hyperprolactinemia.

Allergic reactions: rash, hyperhidrosis, angioedema, contact dermatitis, rash, photosensitivity, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, anaphylactic shock.

Other: laryngitis, hypothyroidism, deficiency of antidiuretic hormone, hyponatremia, increased risk of bruising, bone pain and muscle spasms and twitching of muscles, lockjaw.

You may also feel chest pain, tingling sensation, feeling of heat, thirst, weakness and gait disturbances.

Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms

It is recommended to cancel Cymbalta intake gradually, for at least 2 weeks (withdrawal syndrome may develop in case of abrupt cessation of therapy).

Cymbalta withdrawal symptoms list may include nausea, headache, and dizziness, as well as hyperhidrosis, irritability, defecation disorders, tremor, sensitivity and sleep disorders.


Avoid taking Cymbalta, if you have a personal intolerance to Duloxetine or other drug's components.

It is strictly contraindicated to use Duloxetine if you are taking MAO inhibitors (duloxetine is also banned for 2 weeks following completion of therapy with such drugs. You can begin monoamine oxidase inhibitors therapy no earlier than 5 days after completion of Duloxetine treatment).

You should also avoid taking Cymbalta together with fluvoxamine, ciprofloxacin, and enoxacin.

Cymbalta is not used in pediatrics.

Take Cymbalta with caution, if you have the predisposition to suicide (such patients have to be under constant control, because there may be possible attempts of suicide at the beginning of therapy).

Besides, take Cymbalta with caution in case of:

  • Epileptic attacks, bipolar disorders, and mania (including in history of disorders).
  • An increase of intraocular pressure and danger of acute narrow-angle glaucoma.
  • Arterial hypertension, heart pathologies and heart rate disorders.
  • An increased risk of hyponatremia.
  • If you are taking drugs with hepatotoxic effect.

Avoid driving a car or working with potentially dangerous equipment during treatment with Cymbalta.

Cymbalta and pregnancy

There were no studies of using Duloxetine for pregnant women. That is why it is not recommended for pregnant women to take Cymbalta.

Withdrawal symptoms like tremor, hypotension, increased neuro-reflex irritability, breathing and swallowing disorders can be developed in newborns in case of using Cymbalta during pregnancy.
